Notes: WWF, while the oldest and largest, is only one of many actors investing in conservation on the island. Note also that strong WWF expenditures in the past few years, since the 2009 political crisis, reflect its ability to seek alternative funding through its global network at a time when much traditional bilateral and multilateral donor environmental funding has dried up. Many other conservation actors have struggled to maintain funding and activities in the current political situation.
Sources: FY63 to FY93 are from WWF International as reported in Kull (1996); FY91–FY2012 were kindly provided by WWF Madagascar. Note that differences in accounting procedures result in inconsistent data between the two series (the 1962–1993 data, for example, only includes those funds passing through the Swiss headquarters of WWF International). Note also that fluctuations in foreign exchange rates strongly affect the figures.</image:caption></image:image><lastmod>2014-09-09T00:49:27+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://christiankull.net/2014/07/17/field-trip-report-madagascar-2014/</loc><lastmod>2014-07-17T03:51:26+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://christiankull.net/2013/10/11/cerisy/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_0905.jpg</image:loc><image:title>IMG_0905</image:title><image:caption>A colloquium session in the castle's library</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_0891.jpg</image:loc><image:title>IMG_0891</image:title><image:caption>The speakers' table</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_0889.jpg</image:loc><image:title>IMG_0889</image:title><image:caption>Chateau Cérisy-la-Salle</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/img_0888.jpg</image:loc><image:title>IMG_0888</image:title><image:caption>Gardens of the chateau</image:caption></image:image><lastmod>2014-05-24T23:20:16+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://christiankull.net/2013/03/20/melting-pots-of-biodiversity/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/kull-et-al-2013-melting-pots-first-page.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Kull et al 2013 Melting pots first page</image:title></image:image><lastmod>2014-05-09T00:23:25+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://christiankull.net/2013/09/25/kununurra/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/weedprojectmeeting8.jpg</image:loc><image:title>weedprojectmeeting8</image:title><image:caption>Team meeting in the motel courtyard</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/weedprojectmeeting7.jpg</image:loc><image:title>weedprojectmeeting7</image:title><image:caption>Joking under the boabs towards the end of a hot day visiting potential field site</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/weedprojectmeeting4.jpg</image:loc><image:title>weedprojectmeeting4</image:title><image:caption>Tom Bach presents at the Mirriwong Language Centre</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/weedprojectmeeting3.jpg</image:loc><image:title>weedprojectmeeting3</image:title><image:caption>David and Tom discuss an old weedy and prickly friend: 'moorrooloombong' or Acacia farnesiana</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/weedprojectmeeting1.jpg</image:loc><image:title>weedprojectmeeting1</image:title><image:caption>Discussing the project at the Mirriwong Language Centre</image:caption></image:image><lastmod>2014-05-09T00:23:16+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://christiankull.net/2013/08/31/adat/</loc><lastmod>2014-05-09T00:23:02+00:00</lastmod><changefreq>monthly</changefreq></url><url><loc>https://christiankull.net/2014/04/25/why-we-cant-say-madagascar-is-90-deforested/</loc><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/scales-2014-book-cover-front-and-back.png</image:loc><image:title>Scales 2014 book cover front and back</image:title></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://christiankull.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/ig14-small.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Slash-and-burn tavy clearing near Andapa, Madagascar © 1994 C.
